Chi Zhang
PHD CANDIDATE
Chi was born and raised in China. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) and a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the Australian National University (ANU). Chi is currently pursuing his PhD at ANU in the School of Engineering from August 2024.
Before starting his PhD, Chi gained valuable industry experience at ABB and NR Electric, where he worked on electrical design and power systems. His expertise spans power electronics, microcontrollers, and DC-DC converters, with a particular focus on integrating these technologies into renewable energy solutions.
Now, his research centres on the development of Direct Solar to Hydrogen Technology, with a strong emphasis on system integration, techno-economic analysis, and material engineering. His work involves prototyping and optimising solar-hydrogen systems by integrating advanced photovoltaic and catalyst designs. Chi is particularly interested in improving the efficiency of hydrogen production systems through innovative configurations of solar energy technologies.
